Schools

Michigan’s commitment to Public Education has made us a National and World leader.  Public Education is the biggest single budget item and the most important mission of State Government.  Quality public schools provide young people the opportunity to learn and grow.

We all play a part in making sure public education is as effective as it can be.  Legislators, school board members, administrators, teachers, and parent play a part in making sure our tax dollars make it to the classroom, where they can actually help teachers teach and children learn.

We all need to be involved in repositioning our schools to meet the challenges of competing in a new economy.  For the past century, education has centered around the three “Rs.”   That commitment must continue even while economic forces and budget constraints are providing new challenges.  To help our state compete in a new economy, our schools will have to embrace the three “Cs:” Coordinate, Consolidate, and Collaborate.
