Clinton Township Patriot Day: A moment to reflect together

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope this message finds you well.

As Clinton Township Supervisor, I am honored to carry on a meaningful tradition started twenty-three years ago by my predecessor, Bob Cannon, in year following the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. It is appropriate we continue to gather as a community to remember the lives lost and to honor the heroic first responders who answered the call that day.

I invite you to join us for our Patriot Day Ceremony on Thursday, September 11th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Cemetery, at 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.

This year’s ceremony will feature remarks from our new Clinton Township Police Chief, Preston Susalla, and a keynote address by Susan StyfPresident and CEO of CARE of Southeast Michigan. Susan will speak about the emotional and physical toll that first responders carry with them when responding to dangerous, toxic, and tragic situations.

Special thanks goes to our speakers for lending their insights and perspectives, Resurrection Cemetery for hosting the ceremony, VVA Chapter 154, who will be on hand for the Invocation, Rifle Volley, and Taps, as well as the Clinton Township Police Honor Guard for the posting and retiring of the Colors.

This is a solemn event, a time for reflection, unity, and gratitude, and a tradition that I am proud to carry on. I hope you will join us in honoring the memory of those we lost and the courage of those who served.

Warm Regards,

Paul Gieleghem
Clinton Township Supervisor
