Supporting Our Kids with Tuta’s Kidz Kloset

As Township officials, the community impact we make is about more than just what we do at the Board table.

Getting all kids prepared for success this new school year is a benefit to our entire community. Which is why we were excited to partner this August with Tuta’s Kidz Kloset, a local nonprofit run by Clinton Township resident Tonya Borum-White. Tanya and her team of family and supporters have been distributing backpacks to kids for quite a few years, including more than 300 backpacks last year in Eastpointe. By partnering with Tonya and her team, we were able to more than double that number of backpacks distributed to Clinton Township Students.

Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I think most among us can look back at the successes we’ve had and somehow relate them back to someone who encouraged or invested in us and made us feel special or valued. It is also a testament to how impactful and powerful we can be when we come together as a community to support the young people among us! After a bit of rest, I can’t wait to regroup with Tanya and the Tuta’s Kidz Kloset team to see how we can grow this event next year!

Respectfully,
